ABOUT Tori
San Diego State University, Senior
I love my college because…
of the dance team. I knew I wanted to continue dancing in college and I found this team to be the ideal fit for me. I loved how the team performed at every sporting event, while also dedicating their time to being competitive. Another reason is the location, I wanted to be close to home and close to the beach so I figured this would be the best place for me. The school has such a relaxed and chill vibe that I fell in love with from the second I first visited the campus. I think that SDSU has awesome school spirit and is so diverse.
I major in…
Psychology. I plan to go to a graduate program to further my career in the field.
My hometown is awesome because…
it is by the beach. I am from Carlsbad, CA and I live in walking distance from the beach and spend as much time as I can there when I am at home. I love the laid back atmosphere and how easygoing everyone is.
At school, you can find me…
as a member of the nationally ranked SDSU dance team. I perform at all home football and basketball games, and have even traveled to Hawaii and New York to dance for our teams. We also compete at two national competitions and placed first for the past two years in jazz and hip hop at USA nationals.
My ideal first date would be…
going to Disneyland. It might be a little much for a first date but it is one of my favorite places and always puts me in the best mood. If you can’t go to Disneyland with me, I probably won’t ever date you.
My favorite late night study snack is definitely…
frozen yogurt when I need a little pick me up. I love chocolate yogurt with cookie dough and chocolate chips.
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
want to spend time with my family and close friends. I wouldn’t want anything too extravagant, maybe just hanging out at my favorite place, the beach!
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
how people view themselves. I think that people often view themselves with such a critical eye and don’t see what others see. I would want to help people look at themselves from the perspective of others and see how truly incredible they really are.
If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…
to relax. I sometimes get to caught up in the small details of things and have come to realize everything works out. It has taken me a long time to believe that everything happens for a reason, but if I could reassure my high school self of this I definitely would.
I’m going to be Miss Coed 2017 because…
I am a great representation of a hardworking and genuine San Diego girl. I have so much pride in my university and definitely consider myself to be an ambassador of the school, especially by being a part of the SDSU dance team. I think this a great opportunity to share my love for San Diego State and would be honored to be considered for this title.
