ABOUT Cheyna

San Jose State University, Junior

I love my college because….

from the moment I stepped foot on San Jose State’s campus as a junior in high school, I knew I was right at home. It had such a comforting and welcoming feeling that I didn’t even bother to look anywhere else. The sense of community, support, and pride that comes with being a student here is hard to beat.

I major in…

Child and Adolescent with a minor in Psychology and a major emphasis in Early Childhood Education. I aspire to be an elementary school teacher for children with autism.

At school, you can find me…

going into my second year of being a Resident Advisor on campus, and I’m a new member of the Alpha Xi Delta Iota Omicron chapter at SJSU.

My favorite late night study snack is…

popcorn, always popcorn.

If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…

travel somewhere beachy and peaceful with my friends and family and spend my last 24 hours with those who matter most to me. I’d be extremely content with a sunset, tacos and good vibes.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

to fix all of the world’s problems, but that’s impossible. With that being said, if I could change one thing, it would be all of the hate and intolerance that plagues peoples’ hearts and minds. It hurts me to see that, despite how much time has passed, it’s still such a major issue.

If I could give my younger self a piece of advice, I would say…

to cherish more of what was happening in that moment and to stop sweating all of the small stuff.
