ABOUT Raelyn
Kansas State University, Sophomore
I love my college because….
I grew up around Manhattan and the town has always held my heart. The community is so gracious and the spirit for Kansas State is remarkable. I knew that I wanted to go to a school that I’d be overjoyed to call home and I found that at KSU! Every student, alumni, or faculty member is so proud to say that they are associated with the Wildcat Nation, and you won’t find someone that says any different.
I really hate when…
I can hear people eating. It grosses me out for some odd reason!
I major in…
Psychology with a secondary major in Gerontology and a double minor in Leadership Studies and Criminal Sociology. It’s a mouthful for sure. After college, I hope to work in a psychiatric ward with the mentally unstable.
At school, you can find me…
in my amazing sorority, Sigma Kappa! It has brought me so many opportunities just in the short year that I’ve been an active member. I’ve met many wonderful people and made tons of important connections through my time in SigKap. My sorority is actually what introduced me to my secondary major of gerontology. We do a lot of work with the elderly and Alzheimer’s and it really helped shape my love for that generation.
My ideal first date would be…
something not so cliché. I’m not a dinner and a movie type of girl. I would really like to do something outside or adventurous. I like to be taken out of my comfort zone!
My favorite late night study snack is definitely…
coffee! It’s not necessarily a snack, but I am addicted and can never study without it.
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
definitely travel! I’m obsessed. I have six vacations planned just for myself this year. My goal before I die is to see all 50 states and travel some outside the US. You couldn’t do that in 24 hours, but I would definitely spend it exploring a new territory.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
to stop all of the hatred. I think that often times, people are brought up hating other races/religions/values without forming their own opinions first. I would really like everyone to be cohesive and respect other’s feelings and morals without judgement.
If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…
to take every opportunity and step out of her comfort zone. When I was in high school, I turned down a couple great offers to get out a meet new people and try new things. If I could do it again, I would definitely step out and gain new experiences rather than standing off to stay in the norm.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
I want to show everyone how AMAZING Kansas State University is! Seriously, the best college in the nation. It would also be great to convince some girls who maybe are a little unsure about Greek life to GO FOR IT. I can’t even express how blessed I have been by making the decision and I would do it over again 100 times if I could.
