ABOUT Ashley
Baylor University, Freshman
I love my college because….
it felt like home. I grew up with a dad who went to Baylor. His brothers and their wives went to Baylor and my grandparents went to Baylor. It’s almost like a family tradition. The programs at Baylor are amazing. I think what makes Baylor better than the rest is the Christian atmosphere and the traditions. Professors aren’t afraid to pray for their students. Students are afraid to pray for each other. People can really be themselves at Baylor. The traditions at Baylor, such as the Baylor Line, Dia Del Oso, and many others, bring the student body into one family. The closeness of the student body makes it feel like home.
I really hate when…
not committing once you have said yes or no. When people constantly change their mind over anything and everything, it becomes annoying. It makes you feel like you cannot trust or depend on them anymore.
I major in…
Pre-Athletic Training. I am on a five year athletic training program at Baylor where I will graduate undergrad in three years and grad school in an extra two with a Master’s in Athletic Training. My ultimate goal is to be the head athletic trainer for Baylor. But no matter where I go with my degree, I want to be more than just a trainer for athletes. I want to be someone who my team can go to for emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual problems.
My hometown is awesome because…
I have been in Waco since my freshman year in high school, so I consider it my hometown now. I like the closeness of Waco and how it is centered on Baylor. Baylor brings everyone together. You can see that in restaurants, the billboards, and almost everywhere you look. Waco takes pride in Baylor, and I love that.
At school, you can find me…
I am not involved in any school activities at the moment, since I am a freshman. I am taking my time getting used to the flow of college and really thinking about what I want to join next semester or sophomore year. I do want to join a sorority or possibly the cheerleading team.
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
Fitness Theory and Practice. It is a class that teaches us how to take care of our bodies and how to be healthy while incorporating exercise.
My ideal first date would be…
something small. Going out one night and watching the stars with a small picnic. Or maybe going hunting. I love being outdoors.
My favorite late night study snack is…
an apple. Apples help keep me awake and alert. Plus, they taste amazing.
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
spend them with my loved ones, telling them all over and over again how much I love them and how much they mean to me.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
selfishness. Many people say world hunger or peace but the root of all of these problems are selfish people. People want food, land, and other resources for themselves and are not willing to share.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017…
to show girls that a small girl can achieve anything. I want to be able to put my story out for others to see and encourage them to never give up hope.
