ABOUT Lauren
Baylor University, Freshman
I love my college….
for several reasons. First, I liked that it was in Texas, my home state. Also, our campus is absolutely gorgeous, from the red brick buildings to the beautiful oak trees in fountain mall. I really like the professors here- they make a point to know each student individually, even in large freshman classes. Also, Baylor has the friendliest students that I have ever been around and I almost never have to open a door for myself. The students’ respect for one another is especially apparent in the Baylor Line tradition, where freshman get the front row seats at every home football game! Finally, Baylor has so many opportunities to get involved globally such as internships, mission trips, and studying abroad.
I really hate when…
an intelligent person acts arrogantly towards others. I believe that natural intelligence is a gift that is often wasted when a person views themselves as ideal and all-knowing, refusing to listen to opposing view points. Kindness is definitely more important than knowledge!
I major in…
University Scholar. It’s a part of a unique program here at BU where we plan our own curriculum with a focus in Great Texts. My concentrations are in chemistry and Spanish; my aim is to attend Physician’s Assistant school because I have always wanted to work in the NICU.
My hometown is awesome because…
of its size. It was really nice growing up in a community that felt like a large family!
At school, you can find me…
rushing in January, so I am looking forward to participating in Greek life in a few months. Currently, I am involved in the Baylor Honor’s College as well as the Swing Dance Society!
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
Social Innovation, which is team taught by a couple of professors, one of which founded the Texas Hunger Initiative that has made a massive impact on poverty and how it is handled here in Texas.
My ideal first date would be…
a picnic under some trees, asking each other every question we can possibly think of!
My favorite late night study snack is…
ice cream!
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
spend it playing games and laughing with my family and closest friends.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
to make sure everyone knows they are valuable and loved and that they don’t have to change anything about themselves to earn such things.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
I would like to represent Baylor University and show people that it is truly the greatest school in the world!
