Grand Canyon University, Sophomore

I love my college because…

as cheesy as it sounds, I fell in love with Grand Canyon University at first sight! It is SO beautiful and has great food places like the Habit and Chick Fil A; five Fitness Gyms on campus; an Underground Bowling Alley! The most hyped student section in college basketball!! UH HELLO sign me up! But the reason GCU is the best is not because of the food or sports or gyms. Lots of colleges have that to offer. GCU is the better than the rest because they make sure I am not just another face in the crowd. The students, the professors, the RAs, even the staff members make an effort to welcome and encourage everyone all throughout the school year; not just during Welcome Week. They want students to succeed and will help in any way possible for you to achieve your goals. You feel connected, wanted, special and taken care of by everybody. No other college I know has that same type of quality. Who wants to go to a college where you’re unnoticed anyways? Not me!

I really hate…

lying and flaky people who cancel last minute. I would rather be hurt by the truth than kissed by a lie. And on a side note, I do not like when people touch my stuff such as my hair, my phone, my face, or my boyfriend. (Just kidding about the last one)!

I major in…

Psychology, with a Pre-Law minor and I have amazing plans on how to use my degree! I plan on becoming a profiler for the FBI once I graduate college with my Bachelor’s degree. My next step will be to go to law school and become a lawyer. The first few years I spend as an FBI profiler in the behavioral analysis unit will help me understand criminals once I start prosecuting as a lawyer. Once I achieve becoming a lawyer, I will become a judge with my own courtroom!

My hometown is awesome because…

I love food and my hometown has places like Starbucks, Baskin Robins, Yogurtland, Carl’s Jr, Subway and more all across the street from my house! YUM YUM! But most of all, I love the location of where I live. A majority of my best friends and closest family members live 5-15 minutes away from me. Nothing makes a hometown better than being surrounded by the ones you love… and food!

At school, you can find me…

in a bunch of different places! I am a part of the Havocs and will continue to be for all my upcoming years, so the GCU Arena is where I will be anytime there is a men’s basketball game. I am also a GCU student who is a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Even though my induction ceremony takes place in December, I continue to study constantly in the library or the Student Union because that is what scholars do! I am also a part of the Outreach Group that partners together with St. Mary’s, The Phoenix Rescue Mission, and the city of Phoenix in order to package food for the homeless, clean up parks and recreation centers, repaint and restore houses, and so much more! In second semester, I will be spending my Saturday mornings with the Canyon Kids ministry, a GCU organization that takes care of and plays with children on the weekend. This year, I plan on being a “walk on” athlete who tries out for the GCU track and field team, so you can find me on the track! I also train in Mixed Martial Arts and have my junior black belt so if I’m not working out on the track, try looking in the gym!

The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…

“Criminal Justice 101.” That’s an easy one! It made me so excited to pursue my career in law and the justice system. I learned so much, and my professor was actually a former judge! What made it even better was the solid “A” grade I got in that class.

My favorite late night study snack is…

hmm, it always depends on what my taste buds are craving because I love to eat! If I want something chocolate, I usually snag some Hostess HoHos. If I want something on the sweet side, I get myself a King Size Twizzlers. If I want something crunchy, I have a bag of Turbo Flamas. And if I’m real hungry, I grab all three for one night.

If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…

I would make a crazy bucket list and do everything on it. Daring things like bungee jumping, riding in a helicopter, sky diving, scuba diving, and riding dolphins would be on it. Money would be no issue because if I go broke, who cares! I’m dying anyway.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

the hate/violence going on. The world would not only be safer but also a better place to live in. Innocent lives and blood are being shed in response to this hate and violence worldwide. If I could be the one who could put an end to it, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I’m going to be MISS COED 2017 because…

GCU is an amazing school and I want everyone to fall in love with it the way I have. Some people in the East Coast have never even heard of GCU and that needs to be changed. It would be an honor to represent my school nationwide as Miss COED 2017. The school does so much for me and now it is my turn to return the favor. And who doesn’t love bragging rights?! I feel being Miss COED is more than just a title. It is a representation of your school. You know you have chosen the right school when you feel happier about school starting each semester and less excited about all the vacations that are coming up. Miss COED 2017 is the opportunity to show my school some love- the love it deserves. I have Lope pride and Lope pride goes best with Miss COED pride!
