University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Freshman

I love my college because….

for the longest time, I had my heart set on going to NYC and working for Goldman Sachs on Wall Street. However, around May when I realized college was quickly approaching, I decided I wasn’t quite ready to leave my amazing family and everything behind. My dad, who was an alumni from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, convinced me to tour the campus just to see if I would like it. At first I was very hesitant, but when I visited, I absolutely fell in love. The culture in Louisiana is amazing; there is always some festival going on somewhere, the people are so nice, and everything is just perfect. My school’s campus is absolutely beautiful with oak trees everywhere and it is breathtaking. I cannot imagine myself anywhere else. Sometimes God really has a better plan than you do for yourself!

I really hate…

being late or people showing up late.

I major in…

Professional Land Management, a profession where it is strictly with the oil field just like my parents! After getting my Bachelor’s, I hope to go back to University of Houston and get my law degree.

My hometown is awesome because…

I love everything about Houston, Texas. I love how nice the people are, how there is a Whataburger five minutes away, the culture and nightlife, and absolutely everything (even the traffic, I know it is so weird!)

At school, you can find me…

involved in Chi Alpha, a Christian organization, and I am also in the amazing sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma.

The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…

English. To me, writing is such a unique way everyone can express themselves. English has always been my favorite subject ever since I can remember.

My ideal first date would be…

if a guy took me to Whataburger and then to watch a scary movie, my whole heart would be so full.

My favorite late night study snack is…

any kind of chips!

If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…

start off the day by telling everyone I am close to how much I love them. Especially my parents, who are my rock. They were all I had growing up because I am an only child. Then, I would do everything I am afraid of (finally getting my ears pierced, skydive, cliff diving, etc.) I would also try to laugh more and love deeper, even if it is just for 24 hours.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

stop bullying completely. In middle school, I was bullied so bad because of my appearance that my parents decided for me to switch high schools and not go to the one that I was zoned to by my district. No matter how old someone gets, people still get bullied some way or another and it is heartbreaking.

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…

to not change for anyone. In high school, I was always thought I had to act a certain way to fit in or for boys to like me. However coming to college, I realized that does not matter at all. Just be yourself and you will find people who will love you! Life is so much bigger than high school.

I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…

it means to be a leader, honesty, respectable, and most importantly a good role model to other girls. I believe I have all those characteristics. I was senior editor for my yearbook staff in high school, and I am always honest, respectable, and hard-working. I never stop until the work is done. Being Miss COED 2017 would be an absolute honor!
