ABOUT Lexy
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Freshman
I love my college because….
I am the definition of a ‘Tar Heel born, Tar Heel bred.’ I am a fourth generation UNC student and have had Carolina in my heart since the day I was born. So when I got accepted to UNC, I knew that is exactly where I wanted to be. UNC is such a diverse group of students, has a multitude of clubs, a close sense of community and SO MUCH SPIRIT! I think it is impossible to go two steps on this campus without seeing someone wearing that beautiful tar heel blue. I love my school and am blessed beyond measure to be here. GO HEELS! 🙂
I really hate when…
people complain without taking action. If something bothers me, I take charge and resolve the problem. From my perspective, there’s no use in complaining when you could be doing something productive to solve your problems instead!
I major in…
Exercise and Sport Science and I desire to become a pediatric physical therapist in the future. Fitness is one of my biggest passions; I’m working on getting my personal trainer certification this year. I also love helping others, especially children. I taught gymnastics to elementary schoolers for two years as well as tutoring kids and helping with various other aspects of their lives. I fell in love with them (probably because I act like a kid too). Pediatric physical therapy gives me the opportunity to help children through their physical problems as well as developing lasting relationships with them.
My hometown is awesome because…
I’ve lived there my entire life. It is a very small community, where the majority of the population are cows. However, it is also 30 minutes from Charlotte. Being able to hang out with my easy-going friends since elementary school but still have that ‘fast life’ fun in Charlotte is probably my favorite part about my hometown.
At school, you can find me…
I am SOOOOOO proud to be a sister in Zeta Tau Alpha. Choosing the srat life is the best decision I’ve made in college. I am also playing intramural volleyball, even though I’ve never played before (talk about a train wreck). I do multiple activities through Zeta and plan to take advantage of all of the community service opportunities I possibly can.
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
Marine Environment. Hands down. I am OBSESSED with all things water- animals, plants, weather patterns and everything in between. I even enjoy learning about surface tension (nerd alert!!). Marine environment is the perfect class for me, and what makes it even better? It’s not math.
My favorite late night study snack is…
Insomnia Cookies, for sure. I mean who doesn’t like getting warm cookies delivered to their dorm at 3AM?? It’s amazing.
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
Explore an unknown area with all of my best friends and my mom. For me, there is nothing more fun than discovering new places, especially when it’s with the people that make you the happiest. I would make sure my last 24 hours were spent laughing and having fun.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
people’s attitude. I am a strong believer in positivity and the outstanding effect it has on everyone. When you are in a positive state of mind, it makes every aspect of life a little easier and a lot more fun. I don’t believe in bad days. Yes, bad things happen, but I think everyone should choose to focus on the good of a day instead of the bad! And if our world needs anything right now, it is positivity and peace.
If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…
Chill out on the eyeliner; you are not 2007 Avril Lavigne!! Also, take so many pictures. Capturing all of the moments, good and bad, is essential and fun to look back on.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
it would be a great opportunity for me to set an example for girls about to go to college. I am a strong believer in bettering the community and bringing positivity to everyone around me. I also think that it is so important to be studious in college, but also remembering to incorporate fun into that hard work. Life is all about balance, and this is especially important in college.
