Western Michigan University, Senior

I love my college because….

Western Michigan University is the best for numerous reasons. Being able to cheer for our Broncos is something I take pride in whether it be football, hockey, baseball or basketball. Our football coach named PJ Fleck is extremely motivational and an all-around an amazing leader. He makes me and countless others want to be a better person (not to mention he’s very good looking). I love Western because there is always something to do, whether it be a Tuesday night or a Friday night. We have a bar called The Library which is so clever… especially if your parents ask what you’re doing that night. We have a tradition called House Crawl and it is exactly how it sounds. The entire school gets involved moving from house to house to socialize with drinks in their hands. Western Michigan has the best President any student could ever ask for; he will be retiring in Spring 2017. President Dunn, he has given me the best college experience by providing an amazing diverse educational program with a beautiful campus and so many extra curricular activities to do. I am thankful for the friendships I have created and all the people I have met to make WMU so special to me. I will forever “ROW THE BOAT!”

I really hate when…

people show up late to any sort of event.

I major in…

Interdisciplinary Health Services and Nursing with a minor in Gerontology. I would love to be able to travel parts of the world as a nurse and potentially one day open up my own nursing home facility. I have always had such a strong passion for helping others, and it is what I want to spend the rest of my life doing.

At school, you can find me…

going to the sporting events at Western Michigan. I find a lot of my time at the library studying for exams and quizzes so when I am not there I try to meet up with my friends for a much needed drink and laugh.

My ideal first date would be…

an upbeat place with music and people dancing so that I could pull out some dance moves. I would want to go to a place that I could drink margaritas and eat tacos.

My favorite late night study snack is definitely…

popcorn with chocolate chips in it, so that the chocolate is a little bit melted onto the salty popcorn.

If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…

make sure I got to see my friends and family. I would do something that I have always wanted that I never got the chance, whether it be skydiving, jumping off a cliff into the ocean, paying big bucks to meet Eminem (if it was possible) and eating all of the junk food I could possibly consume.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

to help those who are less fortunate than me. So many people struggle daily to survive whether it be finding a meal to eat or some sort of shelter to survive. There are too many people in this world who are suffering from poverty that are living on the streets, it is heartbreaking. This world is filled with too much hatred and judgment; we need to spread more compassion and love to those in need. I have been on numerous missions’ trips to Oklahoma, Illinois, New York, South Dakota to spend time volunteering and helping those less fortunate than me.

I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…

I am someone who wants to motivate others to push through hard times and to follow their dreams. Life can be hard, but I am a good example of someone who has made it through dark times that I thought would never end. There is hope in every situation. With strength, determination, and confidence, you can be anyone you want to be. I want to be able to reach out to those who need love. I want to be someone to encourage your dreams and goals in life, and to let you know your dreams can NEVER be too big. I want to be able to represent Western Michigan University for a highly motivated ordinary girl who is just trying to find her place like everyone else in this crazy world.
