ABOUT Emily

  • emiilycarlson

University of Texas at Arlington, Sophomore

I love my college because….

of the diversity. I love walking on campus and being able to meet tons of people from different countries and cultures.

I really hate when…

people make plans with me and bail at the last minute.

I major in…

Nursing and minor in Spanish. I would like to be an ER nurse one day. I love the hustle and bustle of trauma areas; it provides a situational awareness and provides everyone with a specific role.

My hometown is awesome because…

90 percent of everyone knows each other. If you ever needed help, there was always a person you could call.

At school, you can find me…

involved with an organization called Love Your Melon on campus! I am a part of the “Love Your Melon Crew,” an apparel brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer in America and supporting the fight against pediatric cancer.

The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…

Political Science. I loved learning about why we vote the way we do and the history of politics in the United States.

My favorite late night study snack is…

apples or coffee, depending on how late I’m staying up.

If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…

spend them with my family playing board games and celebrating holidays I would miss out on.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

separation. I grew up in a very diverse family, so seeing those issues in the world breaks my heart. I also go to a very diverse school and see how people can interact on a daily basis without an issue, so I would love to see less separation in this world.

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…

DO NOT TAKE 8 AM CLASSES that make you think.

I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…

it is a great opportunity to represent the diversity of my school and bring awareness to the current issues going on all over the United States on college campuses.
