ABOUT Jasmine
Texas State
I love my college because….
most people think that Texas State is this big party school, and I’m convinced that’s why some people go there. However, I have never seen any of the parties they advertise on social media. I chose this school because of the background the professors have along with the beauty of the campus. They have a great Fashion Merchandising program – it’s actually the best one in Texas! The professors at Texas State really care about you as a student and they all have been in the industry and have had jobs that I want in my career path. I love going to class and hearing stories about their past jobs. Most importantly, at Texas State they make sure that as a student, you are taking advantage of the opportunities they give you with a variety of internships. They connect us with these companies such as JCPenny or Target and even have people from corporate introduce themselves. Texas State is all about being hands on! No other college is like that.
I really hate when…
someone is walking behind me; do not walk behind me!
I major in…
Fashion Merchandising and minor in Business. My ultimate career goal is to own a clothing company and help produce fashions shows like New York Fashion Week. Until I can get to that point, I really want to be a Buyer for a company like H&M after I graduate, and I’m also working on a blog.
My hometown is awesome because…
I’m from a small town called Huntsville,TX, also known as Prison City. The awesome thing about Huntsville is that there is love and support everywhere. There’s a lot of prayer in that town and it’s probably where I feel safest because I know there’s no harm to be done there. Everyone knows each other, and that’s a great feeling.
At school, you can find me…
as part of FMA (Fashion Merchandising Association) at Texas State. It’s a big organization for Fashion students or anyone interested in fashion. We have so many events throughout the year.
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
Textile Product Analysis. In this class, I got to learn how to photoshop with Adobe! So now I know how people crop their pictures and make it look like they just took a picture with a celebrity like Rihanna. I also got to experience Adobe Illustrator, which is how some designers are able to design their clothes and put together a collection.
My favorite late night study snack is definitely…
blueberries or trail mix.
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
spend it with my family in Hawaii, learn how to surf, go hiking, and go zip lining. Until that last hour, I would have some time to myself.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
the way humans look at one another. For example, we’re all different races/ethnicities and colors, and that’s a major issue today. If we could see each other as all green, the world would be a better place.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
it’s a great opportunity that I would not want to miss out on and it’s a new fun experience; I can’t wait to see what the outcome brings! It’s my chance to show my peers, people who are in college or thinking about college, to give the college life a chance. No matter how hard times may get, you can do anything you set your mind to. It’s going to be hard, but you have people just like you facing the same challenges. I want people to know that you should never ever give up on your passion and maybe you won’t need a degree to get to where you want in life. I like to inspire anyone and everyone around me; I see too many people give up. If I had the power to do so, I would go around the whole world giving people that strength of motivation. Never settle for a career because of the money, settle for the value of it. I love my school, Texas State, and I’m honored to show the great adventures anyone could have there because it is, in fact, the best college.
