ABOUT Jerah
Georgia Southern University, Senior
I love my college because….
of its top rankings in the United States. Not only are we a top business school but also a top fashion school in the South. With fashion being what I wanted to do I knew this was the school. We have a town full of people who love and support our campus whether they are students or not. Yeah, we may be called a “party” school but unlike others, we can hold our own. Georgia Southern has more spirit and charisma than any other school there is. Southern is not only number one on the football field but number one in my heart!
I really hate when…
people think their opinion is the only one that is right. People who do not care to at least listen to what others have to say bothers me. There is always more to learn.
I major in…
Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design with a minor in Communications. I plan to intern as an associate buyer with a company and hopefully take on a full-time position with them at the end of the internship. Once I have worked with the company long enough to save up a good chunk of money, I want to expand my boutique, Loyal-Nichole’s.
My hometown is awesome because…
it shaped who I am today. I grew up in a town that has as many people as there are students at Georgia Southern. In that town everyone knows everyone. I grew up being a good Christian girl (by choice). I wanted to reflect God’s light into others lives. So being able to choose who I wanted to be in that town is why I like it so much.
At school, you can find me…
as a member of the Alpha Delta chapter of Omega Phi Alpha, a national service sorority. I am also a member of the campus ministry, Chi Alpha. I am one of the head leaders in the STITCH shop of the FMAD program; this is a group of students who run a shop much like a seamstress’ shop. I also volunteer with Relay for Life every year to raise money for cancer patients. Oh, and lastly, I am a big recycler on campus!
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
“New York Study Tour.” This is a unique opportunity for fashion students to travel to New York for one week to learn what it is like to work in fashion. While there we had the opportunity to speak with store owners, those who are employees of famous designers, and also those who run their own fashion companies. We also got to sit on a class at FIT, as well as go to museums and many more places to learn about fashion exhibitions. I loved this class because of how much we got to learn hands on.
My favorite late night study snack is definitely…
Cookout. I don’t know if you have ever had Cookout before but the Cookout tray is heaven sent. I love their sweet tea and cajun fries to get me through any night!
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
choose to spend my last 24 hours with my family. To me, there is nothing more special than being with those who care most about you.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
I want other females to feel empowered. I want them to know that looks are not the only thing that matters. When you have a heart of gold, or a brain filled with knowledge you are just as beautiful. Being able to make others smile is the most important thing in this world. I am here to show other women that the best way to get through life is by holding on to what you know is right and true and never straying away from that. #betruetowhoyouare
