University of Louisville, Sophomore

THE COOLEST PLACE TO PARTY ON CAMPUS IS…

One of my favorite fraternities on campus, Phi Kappa Tau, throws awesome parties! From Thrift Shop to Darties to Loggers and Joggers, Phi Tau is known for fun themed parties. One of their houses is dubbed “The Toolshed,” and you can basically catch me there every time they throw a party.

THE MOST MEMORABLE THING I’VE DONE SINCE FRESHMAN YEAR IS…

This past February, I competed in the annual Miss University of Louisville pageant and won the title of Miss Cardinal Country! This qualifies me to compete in Miss Kentucky 2015 and hopefully Miss America 2016. I am incredibly honored to receive this opportunity and represent University of Louisville at a state level.

I MAJOR IN…

I’m majoring in political science and minoring in Spanish. I plan to go to law school at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law upon graduation. After practicing criminal law, I hope to one day become a circuit court judge.

AT SCHOOL, I’M INVOLVED IN…

I was recently elected by my student body to serve as a senator for the college of Arts & Sciences – a prestigious position in student government. I am a member of Cards In Action, which is a political group that lobbies in our state capitol with local representatives. During my freshman year, I was selected to be part of a group called Task Force Freshmen which is a leadership skills-building group for students that show potential for leadership on campus.

IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?

I would absolutely love to travel to Venezuela. Going anywhere in South America would be a great opportunity for me to practice and perfect my Spanish-speaking skills, but Venezuela would be a dream! I love tropical locations and I’ve heard that the Cayo de Agua beach is one of the most beautiful in the world. Venezuelans seem to have a great outlook on life, and I definitely wouldn’t have trouble trying some of their European-inspired cuisine.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE MISS COED 2016?

I think this would give my school a great opportunity to be recognized for all that it is. I have so much school spirit and I want everyone to know why! Being Miss COED 2016 would be a great opportunity not only for me, but also for my university.

IF YOU COULD GIVE OUR READERS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Take advantage of your college years to try things you never otherwise would. In high school, I tended to be a little uptight and always needed to know all the details. College has taught me to loosen up, roll with the punches, and take risks! College is a chance for you to grow and learn about yourself; you’ll never do that if you stay locked up in the library all the time! Say “no” less often and realize that you have nothing to lose!
