Virginia Tech, Junior; Miss COED 2016 Semifinalist
MY COLLEGE KICKS ASS BECAUSE…
I love Virginia Tech because as Hokie’s, we are a family. When people ask me where I attend university, they usually refer to the school that had the tragic shooting where we lost 32 amazing students and friends. This horrible event only brought us closer as a university and a town. We are constantly looking out for each other, whether a stranger is giving someone a ride home from downtown because they cannot drive themselves, filling someone else’s meter, or participating in one of the many philanthropies on campus. I know that when I move on from Virginia Tech, no matter where I am in the world, if I meet a fellow Hokie there, I can trust them.
THE MOST MEMORABLE THING I’VE DONE SINCE FRESHMAN YEAR IS…
The most memorable thing I have done since Freshman year was attend the Pink Nation Tailgate Party. Victoria’s Secret held a competition to win a free concert, and we won my sophomore year. Our drill field was turned into a concert arena. There was a large stage where students normally play football and frisbee, and there were games and activities set up everywhere. Chiddy Bang and Gym Class Heroes both performed and two of the Victoria’s Secret models also joined in the festivities. I went early to get a good place on the drill field and ended up in the first row. It was an unforgettable concert.
I MAJOR IN…
I am a public relations major. I plan to apply for jobs in PR departments at fashion magazines in Los Angeles and also event planning companies.
AT SCHOOL, I’M INVOLVED IN…
Although I am not in a sorority, I am a “Big Sister” in Virginia Tech’s Theta Chi chapter. I participate in Best Buddies Club, which is run by the Special Olympics. The club is dedicated to making friends with children and adults with special needs, spending time with them, having club dances and field trips and spending time with your buddy outside the events. This year, I was crowned Miss Blacksburg 2015.
IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?
I would love to travel to Australia. I am very fond of warm weather, and I would love to see the many exotic and dangerous animals that the country holds. Most of the boutiques I shop online are from Australia, so I’m sure I would take some time to shop.
WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE MISS COED 2016?
I think that I embody “The Girl Next Door” look and personality. I am approachable and I love to meet new people. I am not afraid to show sex appeal; I believe all women should embrace their beauty and sexuality. I would use my title as Miss COED 2016 to spread that message and to also make COED look it’s best.
IF YOU COULD GIVE OUR READERS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Take time to follow your dreams. It is better to regret doing something than to regret not doing something. “I would rather ask for an apology than permission.”
