Western Kentucky University, Freshman

I love my college because…

of cheerleading. I used to live in Charlotte, North Carolina and my whole life I dreamt of being a college cheerleader. Kentucky has one of the best cheer programs around, so my mom and I packed and moved to Kentucky and I chose to go to Western. Not only does it have a fantastic cheerleading program that I am proud to be a part of, but my school is better than the rest because it’s full of school spirit and it seems as if everyone knows everyone. We have a great Greek life that I am also proud to be apart of, and everybody is so friendly. Game days on the Hill are my favorite part of being a WKU student and cheerleader.

I really hate…

people who walk really slowly in front of you. It always bothered me in high school and it still bothers me in college.

I major in…

Special Education and minor in Psychology. I plan to become a special ed teacher after college for high school age students. I would like to do that for a while and then possibly go deeper into it and become an Occupational Therapist and work with all ages of special education outside of a school setting. Psychology is a good minor to have with this major to understand better how the brain works and what makes them act the way that they do.

My hometown is awesome because…

everyone in Henderson is very friendly there. When I moved to Henderson my junior year, I was very nervous because I didn’t know anyone. Everyone was very welcoming and I made friends very quickly. I really miss my town and my dog right now!

At school, you can find me…

involved in a few different activities. The first thing I am involved in is I am a cheerleader on the WKU Coed Cheerleading squad. We cheer at all football games and boy’s basketball. It is so much fun and I have gotten to live out my dream since I was 4 years old and there is no better way of doing that than being a Hilltopper. I am also apart of Kappa Delta sorority. AOT!!! It is so much fun to be around my sisters and my teammates all of the time. Although sometimes it can get a little time-consuming, I wouldn’t trade it for the world because I have already made lifelong friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…

Psychology. It really intrigues me on how the mind works and how we remember the things we do and the different mechanisms we have to remember information that we don’t even notice. Not only does the class intrigue me, but my professor is very good. She doesn’t read off of a PowerPoint, but she actually does the notes with us and thoroughly explains everything very well.

My ideal first date would be…

a romantic dinner. (You can never go wrong with food.) I would love for that date to have flowers and candles and some calming music. Nice food and a great conversation. A conversation where you can get to know each other really well and hit it off on the first date. After dinner, a walk around town or a movie or maybe even ice-cream. To end the night, I would love to sit with blankets outside and cuddle and stargaze.

My favorite late night study snack is…

Pringles. I have an entire drawer of just cans of Pringles that I will whip out and start snacking on every night.. should probably change it to fruit lol.

If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…

I don’t think I would change how I live on a normal basis. Each and every morning, I always strive to live my days to the fullest. The only thing that would change is I would go back to Henderson and spend the hours with my mom and my animals, the things that mean the most to me. But other than that, I believe that you should live every day like it’s your last.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

criticism. I can’t stand hearing about people bullying each other and putting people down. We all have a certain amount of self-confidence, some more than others, but it is ashamed that we let other people tear our confidence levels down. In my sorority, we aim to make others feel confident in themselves and we strive to make that a major goal throughout our campus. Everyone should bring others up instead of bullying or being ‘fake.’ Now that we are in the real world, I believe everyone should be mature and give compliments to people and make them feel good about themselves because it’ll make you feel good as well.

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…

to cherish every moment. I wish I could go back and relive the memories I made throughout high school. High school was some of the best times of my live and I know they say college is the best 4 years. So if that is true, then I can’t wait. But the biggest thing is to soak everything in. Even if it doesn’t seem important at the time, some memories you will never forget, which I am very thankful for.

I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…

I feel as if I can represent my school very well by being a D1 college athlete here, being apart of a sorority, and being a good student. I have always strived to be a role model and have people look up to me growing up, on and off the sidelines. I always encourage others to be the best self as they can be while motivating and holding myself to those standards as well. Being Miss COED 2017 would be such an honor to represent the University that I am more than proud to be a part of. Not only am I a part of Western, but Western is a part of me.
