I love my college because…

I love going to a school that represents the spirit of my city and my home state. I love living so close to home as I am extremely close with my family. I loved the progressive look and opportunities of my school. We take pride in our research capabilities and success. I love going to UTSA and would make the same choice if I had to do it all over again!

I really hate when…

people say that Education majors have it easy. They think we just play with toys and kids all day. We truly put a lot of thought, time, and effort into every minute of our day so that we can give our students nothing but the best. We believe in each of our students when others don’t and think about how we can help them 24/7.

I major in…

Education (early childhood through sixth grade). I plan to graduate and teach for a few years while getting my Master’s in counseling. Once I have my Master’s, I would love to move into school counseling and help children in a different way than teaching.

My hometown is awesome because…

my family is here! I also love the history of our city. Being able to go downtown and see the Alamo and the missions and read about how our city was founded. We also have a great food!

At school, you can find me…

as a charter memeber and the first president of the Iota Alpha chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at UTSA. I am a member and former secretary of Kappa Delta Pi, the national honor society of education. I am currently the morale chair for For the Kids where we provide emotional and financial support for local families affected by pediatric cancer.

My ideal first date would be…

lighthearted and fun, but also allow for talking so that you can get to know each other! To me, an amusement park would be a great first date!

My favorite late night study snack is definitely…

fruit chews. I have an obsession with them, especially while studying!

If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…

go to Disney World with my family! I would want to be with the people I love most in a fun place that I love. It is also a place we have traveled to a lot and a place where we have many memories.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

that too often people show hatred for one another, and often for silly reasons. As a Christian, I believe we are to show God’s love in all that we do and not be hateful or mean to one another. We should build up one another versus tearing them down.

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…

“Worry more about what is on the inside than the outside and be confident in who you are.” I was very concerned with looks and my weight in high school and was very shy. I have gained a lot of confidence, but I still could use the extra push. Looks and weight are a topic on most girls’ minds and if you aren’t the skinniest in the room you start to panic that you won’t be accepted when that should not be the case. We should worry about who we are on the inside and how we treat others.
