Florida Atlantic University, Junior

I love my college because…

after being a military brat most of my life, I was ready to stay in one place. I fell in love with Florida when I graduated high school there and just could not leave. My school is five minutes away from the beach and has beautiful palm trees all over campus. We literally go to school and study where most people dream to vacation. My school is growing so fast each year because more and more people want to come here. I mean, who wouldn’t? It’s paradise.

I really hate when…

people change themselves to fit in. I really don’t like when people are not themselves. God made you who you are for a reason; He doesn’t want you to change and act differently just for certain people to like you or to get more attention. It’s also not fair to the people who do love you and are friends with you for who you are. Those people don’t want to see you change yourself. Being two different people does not get you anywhere.

I major in…

Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Film and Communication Studies. Goals would be to be the next Erin Andrews or Kelly Ripa. I would love to work with a news station and go out and travel around the world to find the latest breaking news story.

My hometown is awesome because…

well, to be honest, I don’t think I really have a hometown. My dad was in the military growing up, so we moved every two to three years. Each move was a new place. Making new friends. New school. It was hard, but I would not change all of the experiences I had. I think your home is where your family is, so every place we moved I made home. Right now my family is living in Hawaii, so I would consider that home. And what’s not to like about Hawaii?! I love the tropical island. The hikes are my absolute favorite and the views are amazing. The water is crystal clear and it has just been a really fun place to call home for a few years.

At school, you can find me…

with my sisters in Alpha Delta Pi. I am also in the National School of Collegiate Scholars Club and currently work for the on-campus television studio called Owl Tv and Owl Radio. I am currently on the team for our Dance Marathon Organization. I volunteer at my church on a regular basis and I’m going on a missions trip to Guatemala.

The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…

foreign languages. I took French, and I just love learning about different cultures, probably because I lived in South Korea for awhile in middle school. I just find different languages and how other cultures live so intriguing. I wish I could just travel to every place and country and learn everything about them.

My ideal first date would be…

for them to pick me up with flowers and take me in their nice car to a fancy dinner BUT then add a twist and do something crazy like take me in a helicopter or skydiving or something then just finish it off with a blanket and wine on the beach. I’m a sucker for the typical romantic love story.

If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…

that no one would get sick. All sorts of sickness, including cancer and infections, even the flu or the common cold. I feel like life is already hard enough. We already only have so long on earth and so many people struggle every day by having life-threatening illnesses or can’t get out of bed to go to work because they don’t feel well. Sicknesses of all kinds take away from enjoying our every day lives.

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…

to enjoy everything a little more. I was always stressed worried about everything. Life is good. You are good. Be thankful for everything you have. Life only gets harder from here so enjoy everyone around you and everything you have.

I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…

I think I have the all-around personality and attitude that you are looking for. I am a very outgoing and loving person. Ask anyone, I am always smiling. I have lived in so many places that I’ve learned to make the best out of every situation and enjoy all the time you have where you have it. I work hard and I’m very successful in school and with my job. And would love to represent my growing, beautiful school that I have had the amazing opportunity to go to for the past two years.
