ABOUT Sara
Old Dominion University, Sophomore
I love my college because…
it’s the perfect home away from home. Growing up 30 minutes from campus, if I ever need anything my parents are only a phone call or quick drive away! It also holds a closer place to my heart because I knew a lot of people from high school who were attending ODU as well, so the transition was a lot easier! I think Old Dominion is better than the rest because it’s a big school in a smaller community, and everyone is friends with everyone so the campus is super friendly and inviting!
I really hate when…
people are not appreciative of what they have. I see people who complain about the car they drive, the clothes they wear, ect., but they really need to see the reality that at least they have these things. Whether they were given to them or earned by their own hard work, some people have way less than we do, they struggle to live every day with the little they have. So being appreciative of what we have is something I see as being incredibly important.
I major in…
Mechanical Engineering, and I want to help design cars. My plan is to start interning my third year at Old Dominion and get a jump start with a good company. I’ve always had a love for cars and I think I’ll enjoy having a job where I can combine that love with new designs!
My hometown is awesome because…
my hometown has a little bit of everything. It has country land, city life, and it’s close to the beach which is probably my favorite thing!
At school, you can find me…
not involved in too many activities due to a busy school schedule, but I am a sister of the Epsilon Eta chapter of Alpha Phi. Being in a sorority has kept me occupied with many different philanthropy events as well as supporting other Greek life events! I also try to take part in as many intramurals as I can with my sorority, such as floor hockey, indoor soccer, and outdoor soccer.
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
an introduction to literature class. It was a really cool class with an awesome professor, it really made you think about the material and what it means to you as a person.
My ideal first date would be…
a car ride to the beach, getting to know each other, and then picking up a pizza to eat as we sit in the sand watching and listening to the waves at sunset. Corny, I know!
My favorite late night study snack is definitely…
a chocolate milkshake or a Kit-Kat bar.
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
want to meet the USA Women’s National soccer team and get to kick around with them and I would also want to spend time swimming with dolphins or swimming in Puerto Rico.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
to make sure there was no hunger in other countries. We have the luxury of eating whatever and whenever we please and to see people starving to the point of death is very upsetting to me. There is enough food that we waste in the United States that we could feed another nation.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
I’m a fun girl. I am also trying to break out of my shell so I think this would be a great experience for me to see what I can actually do when I put my mind to it!
