Kansas State University, Junior

MY COLLEGE KICKS ASS BECAUSE…

What is there NOT to love about K-State? The moment I walked onto this campus, I was greeted by the “family” atmosphere that everyone had always told me about. We have such a strong and welcoming greek community, staff, and of course, a competitive and fun sporting environment. There is no greater feeling than attending classes, tailgating, and cheering on the wildcats at football games and creating a fun atmosphere each day with over 20,000 people that treat you like family. Manhattan, though may seem like a smaller town, has easily became my favorite place away from home. It is filled with genuine people who have a passionate pride for our school.

THE COOLEST PLACE TO PARTY ON CAMPUS IS…

Our campus is covered in house parties, and we have many wet fraternities which are always a great time. However, Aggieville, our “downtown,” has strip of bars, restaurants, and shops that cannot be beat!

THE MOST MEMORABLE THING I’VE DONE SINCE FRESHMAN YEAR IS…

I think my favorite memories come from tailgating and watching our Wildcats play football. Don’t get me wrong, we are supportive of all our sports at KSU, but there is something about filling the Bill Snyder Family Stadium with students, alumni and fans and all cheering on those boys that is so special. I STILL get chills when the whole student section does the Wabash Cannonaball and the team holds their “family” sign in the huddle to start the game! Ask anyone; it is something to remember.

I MAJOR IN…

I am majoring in elementary education with an emphasis in social sciences and minior in leadership. I want to be an elementary teacher. Third grade would be my first choice, but long-term, I hope to someday get my masters degree in administration and serve as the principal.

AT SCHOOL, I’M INVOLVED IN…

I am currently the President of my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta, but have also been the Activities Chair and the representative for my pledge class. I am also the Vice President of the Student Council for the College of Education, volunteer for our K-State Proud Campaign, and Chairperson for Up Til’ Dawn for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. In addition, I play volleyball and softball intramurals (CO-ED and in my sorority).

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE MISS COED 2016?

It would be an absolute honor to be Miss COED 2016. College has already been the experience of a lifetime. The people I’ve met and memories I have made will be some that I take with me wherever I go and look back on and smile. Maybe I am just lucky, but I would love to share the excitment and experiences I have had because of college because I have felt incredibly fortunate with the last two years, and cannot wait for the next two. I think my college life is one that could really inspire, encourage and excite those who are aware of it. 🙂

IF YOU COULD GIVE OUR READERS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Look for opportunities, and take every one that you get. College is the time to find yourself, make memories, and take on experiences that will shape us for the rest of our lives. We will all have to go out into the real world soon and deal with stress and struggles and maybe some of us maybe already do. I think it’s important to live in the moment and take in all that college has to offer.
