My college is awesome because…
it had everything that I wanted. I wanted to go to a large state school with great academics, social life and school spirit. I also wanted to be in a so-called ‘college town’ but also have large cities such as NYC and Boston nearby. After I visited, I met some students and saw the campus and basketball stadium, and I knew that UConn was the perfect fit for me.

I double major in…
Spanish and Communications. After I graduate, I want to either teach English abroad and/or join the Peace Corps for a few years. I also want to eventually work in a Public Relations or Sales and Marketing job and get my MBA. However, one of my long term goals is to become a social entrepreneur, which is creating a business that not only makes profit but also helps people/communities in some way.
My hometown is awesome because…
it’s near the beach. Ever since I was little, I have grown up by the ocean and I don’t think that I could ever live without it. Whenever I am stressed or just need to get out of the house, I can take a 15 minute walk to the beach with my dog. I don’t think that it is possible to be stressed or unhappy at the beach. The beach is my happy place, and I am so blessed to live by the water.

as member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, which promotes the idea of the ‘Real Strong Women’ and spreads awareness against Domestic Violence. I am also part of UCTV Sports (UConn Student Television) which is really fun because I go to different sporting events where I film, live tweet games, and interview players and coaches. I am also a member of and Big Brothers Big Sisters. In this program, you go to a local school once a week and are assigned to be the ‘big sister’ or ‘big brother’ of a younger boy or girl and do different activities with them and help them with their homework. It is an amazing program. I also plan to join the boxing and photography clubs this year, and I am studying abroad in Granada, Spain this upcoming spring semester!
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
Latin American Film. I not only major in Spanish and love the language, but I also love film. This class was interesting because every film had a historical context involved with politics and/ or focused on social movements. This made it a fascinating class because we focused on cinematography of the film while also learning about Latin American history and society. I like these kinds of classes because the more that we learn about the past, we can better understand the present and prepare for the future.
My ideal first date would be…
anything besides the movies because there is no opportunity for conversation in a movie theater. Conversation is the most important part of a first date because that is how you can best get to know a person and learn about who they are. But if I had to choose, I would love to spend the day doing something active like hiking or taking our dogs for a walk the beach, and then getting pizza afterwards.
My favorite late night study snack is definitely…
PIZZA. ALWAYS PIZZA.
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
spend them with my family and my close friends. Cliche, I know. I would also get in contact with loved ones who live far away from me. I think that love is the most important thing in life. People who love you unconditionally deserve every minute of your time.

I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
I want to be an inspiration to young woman like myself. I want women to realize how beautiful they truly are and how much opportunity they have to change the world and have an impact on others. These days, there is SO much pressure on women to be perfect, and we have been taught to constantly compare ourselves to other women. I want to promote self love and confidence for young women and help them realize their worth.
