ABOUT Nichole
University of Central Florida, Junior
I love my college because…
I wanted to go to a big school and breakaway from the “small school” feel of my high school. I would say going to the second largest university in America definitely qualifies! I love living in Orlando because there’s always something to do, not to mention the amazing internship opportunities it has provided me with!
I really hate when…
adults constantly misuse basic grammar (your, you’re, too, to, their, there, their). I find myself correcting people all the time! My friends say I shouldn’t tell the guys I’m talking to because they’ll get annoyed, but I like to think of it as a complimentary refresher course.
I’m majoring in…
Advertising/Public Relations and minoring in Spanish. l have always been really into reading and writing so content creation, blog posts, and press releases are all right up my alley! I’ve also stayed current with all forms of social media and have managed many different types of accounts in my previous internships, which I really enjoy. I chose Spanish because I’m Cuban and it’s important to me and my heritage that I perfect my Spanish. Not to mention it sounds infinitely sassier telling someone off in Spanish than in English. And have you SEEN the men that live in Spain?
My hometown is awesome because…
although my parents don’t live there anymore, Miami will always be my first home. I honestly love how big and crazy it is. There’s delicious, authentic Hispanic food around every corner (ahem, Cuban sandwiches) and there’s always a different area to explore. I also love listening to what outsiders have to say about it when they first visit.
At school, you can find me…
as the Public Relations chair for Alpha Delta Pi sorority. I’ve also been involved in Ad Club and Quotes (the PR club). I’m in the National Society of Leadership and Success and I am a National Hispanic Scholar.
My favorite late night study snack is definitely…
well, if I’m being reckless? Nutella and pretzels. If I’m being responsible? A green apple.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
more equality. Not in a socialist kind of way but just having everyone have more of an attitude of love and acceptance of one another. All races, genders, sexual orientations, income levels, etc. shouldn’t have to change themselves but at least accept people that are different from them. Everyone should want to travel and see new places and meet new people without a sense of entitlement as they blindly say their way of life is better than everyone else’s.
If my high school self could talk to me now, she would…
be proud of me for breaking away and going to a huge university without knowing anyone. I have made so many amazing friends and countless memories in my time here, and I’m so glad I chose to be a Knight.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
I love my school and am so grateful for the opportunities it has given me over the years. I would love to represent UCF in this competition and tell everyone about the great memories they could make here.
