It looks like we’re going to be in for a long school year of controversy, as proud high school seniors refuse to compromise their Official Senior Pictures in the yearbook. We’ve been covering the plight of brave Draven Rodriguez, whose amazing laser cat picture was first censored by his high school–before his principal joined in the fun as Draven worked out a compromise after taking his case to the internet. Now we’re facing new controversy from Glens Falls High School senior Ben Brodeur–who, like Draven Rodriguez, is in upstate New York and fighting for his right to party with animals. As revealed in the exciting local coverage, Ben comes from a big bird family. He brought along his umbrella cockatoo (named Boo) for his senior picture, and was immediately told by the Stuffy High School Authorities that no animals can be used in student photos. (Let’s still salute Cara Lee Photography for going along with the idea.)
Also, the high school is pretty sure that animals will lead to high school seniors flashing gang signs. We don’t think that’s really going to be an issue with Ben, though. “Parrots are a big part of my life,” he insists, “and I wanted to be remembered that way.” Yeah. We’re pretty sure that Ben is already all set to be remembered as the Bird Kid–but we’re all for rebellion, so fight the power! Even with a bird named Boo.
