MY COLLEGE KICKS ASS BECAUSE…
Need I say the University of Colorado- Boulder is located in the most beautiful city there is? Coming over the hilltop on Highway 36, you get an unbelievable view of the Rocky Mountains illuminated by the most gorgeous Colorado sunset and our football stadium in the distance. Aside from Boulder being beautiful, the people here are amazing- some of the most friendly and inviting people I’ve ever met in my life. Whether I’m in class, grabbing late lunch at Cheba Hut or at a party, someone’s always there to talk to you and make you feel welcome. Our Engineering, Business and Law programs are some of the best in the country along with all of our other majors. Everyone here just feels like family. I can be at a CU vs. CSU football game standing next to complete strangers and we’re all rooting for the buffs like we’re life-long buddies. There’s always something to do: movie premieres, celebrity meet and greets, frat/sorority events, huge parties…this campus never sleeps. Am I making you want to transfer yet?
THE MOST MEMORABLE THING I’VE DONE SINCE FRESHMAN YEAR IS…
Probably Welcomefest 2014. CU Boulder puts on this big show the weekend before school starts on Farrand Field, and this was my first college experience as a freshman. I had no idea what to expect and there were just so many people. I had went with a couple on my guy friends and right in the middle of this concert, they decided to start telling everyone it was my birthday and so as everyone was chanting ‘Happy Birthday’ to me. I got hoisted up into the air on my back by all these strangers and was crowd surfing on top of my new classmates. I ended up on the complete opposite end of the field and got launched onto the cement by some football player. He came and helped me up and I completely lost my friends so I figured, ‘What better way to make friends than with the people that were just holding your butt?’ I followed him and his group of friends back to some apartments on The Hill where they were having a huge pool party. You couldn’t even walk there were so many people. A lot of booze and people jumping of the top of these five-story apartments into the pools. Needless to say, I don’t remember much else of the night and woke up with lots of bruises.
I MAJOR IN…
I’m majoring in chemical/biological engineering, and if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me what I wanted to do with my degree, I wouldn’t need to go to college. But seriously, I don’t know yet, and that’s what I love about engineering is that there is so much that you CAN do with it. I can work in an office, in the field, designing pharmaceuticals in a lab, testing biomedical devices, some have even gone on to law or med school. No matter where my degree takes me, I just know I want to be bettering the health and well-being of society. Who knows, you might see me curing cancer one day!
OH YEAH, AND YOU SHOULD PROBABLY KNOW THAT…
I’m a total dork! I think people see these girls on social media and even in real life and think they’re totally stuck up and unapproachable and that’s totally not that case! (At least not with me)! I love conversing with new people and wouldn’t want anyone to feel nervous about talking to me because I’m just as shy and awkward! I’m a total nerd and hope others find me as down-to-earth as I try to be.
AT SCHOOL, I’M INVOLVED IN…
In the fall, I would love to join the Biomedical Engineering Club at my school. They run tons of community service events and their spring project was designing suits that could be taken to third-world countries to treat ebola patients. They tested materials that would withstand the environment/toxins without doctors becoming infected — how nerdy and awesome is that! Aside from my studies, I run my own fashion blog where I talk about clothes and beauty. It’s something I’ve always had a real passion for and lets me escape my studies. I’ve also been a competitive dancer for 16 years and try to sneak in a dance class whenever I can. I love all sorts of EDM concerts and try to head up to Red Rocks during the summer — it’s gorgeous!
WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE MISS COED 2016?
I want to show people that college is a time to grow, explore, and most importantly, a time when you can have it all! No one said you had to choose between your studies and social life; I work two jobs, am an engineering major, make good grades and on top of that, still have time to go out with friends and create the best memories possible. You’re at a time in life where everything you want is right at your fingertips; there are so many outlets for you to do what you love and create an empire for yourself. Not to mention, I would get to throw the best party Boulder has ever seen!
IF YOU COULD GIVE OUR READERS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Live in the moment, and enjoy every part of where you are right now! Like I said, college is a time where you can have it all; you’ll only be this young once! Go to festivals and dance like idiots with your friends, watch the sunrise from the mountaintops, study your ass off, meet new people, and have the best time of your life!
