The FDNY Fire Commissioner confirmed that there were 20 victims during the October 31st attack Lower Manhattan terrorist attack, six of which were pronounced dead at the scene. The incident took place shortly after 3:20PM on Tuesday, October 31, near Chambers and Houston Street in Downtown New York City.

According to the NYPD, the Home Depot truck, rented by Sayfullo Saipov, a 29-year-old man from Tampa, Florida, entered the West St. pedestrian/bike path a few blocks north of Chambers St. The vehicle struck multiple people on the path. There are several fatalities and numerous people injured. The vehicle continued south striking another vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle displaying imitation firearms & was shot by NYPD. The suspect is currently in custody.

The victims were treated at Bellevue Hospital. The NYPD is reporting that there is one person in custody and no others outstanding. All information is preliminary as the investigation is ongoing.

“What happened was there was a car crash… he came out of one of the cars. He had two guns. He was running around Chambers and somebody started to chase him,” said Laith Bahlouli, 14, a Stuyvesant student. “I heard four to six gunshots – everybody starts running.”
All media responding to the incident in Lower Manhattan are asked to meet DCPI reps at Chambers Street and Greenwich Street. Police shut down the FDR to rush victims to Bellevue Hospital.
The crime scene could be as long as 14 city blocks Lower Manhattan 2 blocks from World Trade Center while the FBI Joint Terror Task Force investigates. Video of the suspected gunman running down street don’t know if gun real or pellet gun appears bearded,
According to witnesses and law enforcement officials, the suspect shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack.
President Donald Trump responded to the incident on Twitter.
32-year-old Darren Drake has been identified as one of the eight victim of Tuesday’s terror attack in New York City.
23-year-old Nicholas Cleves was also among the dead, following Tuesday’s terror attack.
Ann-Laure Decadt is the 31-year-old Belgium national who was killed as a direct result of the NYC terror attack.
