UFC 239 Medical Suspensions: Jones, Santos Could Be Out Until 2020

UFC 239 took place on Saturday, July 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jon Jones and Amanda Nunes retained their titles and continued to build their resumes as the greatest of all-time in their respective weight classes, while Jorge Masvidal set a UFC record for the fastest knockout in history.

Following the event, the Nevada State Athletic Commission announced the medical suspensions from the event.

Jones and Thiago Santos, who challenged for the light heavyweight championship in the main event, could be out of action until January 2020 after they both suffered leg injuries and had to be helped out of the cage. Ben Askren, who ate Jorge Masvidal’s knee, cannot have contact until September 5.
