UFC 237 Medical Suspensions: Namajunas, Silva Out up to 6 Months

On Saturday, May 11, the Ultimate Fighting Championship made the trip to Rio de Janeiro for UFC 237. Following the conclusion of the event, the Brazilian Athletic Commission, Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA), issued the latest round of medical lay-offs for participants throughout the night.
The longest medical suspensions were handed down to those on the wrong side of the main and co-main event, who both suffered unfortunate losses.
Former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas faces up to six months on the sideline unless she is cleared by an orthopedic doctor following a neck MRI after being slammed on her head to end the night on the receiving end of a knockout. Silva, meanwhile, must undergo an MRI on his right knee before being cleared or he will also face up to six months.
New women’s champion Jessica Andrade, meanwhile, faces just a 45 day suspension with 30 days of no contact following a left eye laceration.
