Israel Adesanya Becomes Second Nigerian Champion In UFC History

Top middleweight contenders Kelvin Gastelum and Israel Adesanya put on a show in the co-main event of UFC 236 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, April 13. The two men went toe-to-toe for five rounds before a new interim champion was crowned.
When it was all said and done, it was Adesanya who earned the unanimous decision victory and became the second Nigerian champion in the promotion’s history.
Adesanya also becomes the first New Zealander to win the UFC championship, setting up an epic title unification bout with Robert Whittaker.
