Police Respond To Shots Fired Report After Teacher Barricaded Themselves Inside Classroom

Police responded to a report of shots fired after a Dalton High School teacher barricaded themselves inside a classroom at Dalton High School in Georgia. The Dalton Polide Department and Georgia State Police reported to the scene. The teacher, who has yet to be named, is in custody.
While police were called for shots fired at the school, no students were hurt and they were all evacuated from the school. Police have told reporters that the teacher had a gun, however, no further details about the weapon are known at this time.

Dalton Police officers are on scene at Dalton High School responding a report of shots fired. At the time, there is a barricaded subject in a classroom. Investigators believe it is a teacher. NO CHILDREN. HAVE BEEN INJURED. NO CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER. The area inside the school has been evacuated and there are no students believed to be in the school at this time. Police have asked parents not to report to the high school. Authorities say that the school’s students have been taken to the Northwest Georgia Trade Center and that parents can pick them up there.

“The area inside the school has been evacuated and there are no students believed to be in the school at this time,” the spokesperson explained. “The school is locked down. DPD and Georgia State Patrol are responding.”

Dalton High School is a public high school located in Dalton, Whitfield County, Georgia, United States. It is one of two high schools operated by Dalton Public Schools. The school has approximately has about 2,100 students from grade 9-12.
The Dalton High School shots fired report comes exactly two weeks after the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 people dead.
Similarly, the incident comes just days after President Trump suggested arming teachers as a deterrent to school shootings.
