Fresno Police say three people were killed and one person was injured in a Central Fresno shooting. Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says the suspect, Kori Ali Muhammad, is in custody. He is also the suspect in the Motel 6 security guard homicide last Thursday.
What Happened?
A gunman murdered three strangers in downtown Fresno, California, while shouting Allahu Akbar, police said in a news conference.
The shooter was captured and has been named by police as Kori Muhammad (Kori Ali Muhammad), the suspect in the earlier slaying of a security guard at a Motel 6 last Thursday.

Muhammad shot randomly, “spraying rounds” at at a downtown crowd while shouting “Allahu Akbar.” Fesno police confirmed that three people were shot and killed in the attack.
According to the Fresno Bee, the Fresno gunman opened fire in the parking lot of “Catholic Charities at Divisadero and Fulton in downtown Fresno.”
The newspaper reported that the gunman appeared to be randomly targeting people, shooting a man in a front yard, and then another person at a bus stop, and then a man in the Catholic Charities parking lot.
A total of 16 rounds were fired in less than a minute in four different locations, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said.
According to Dyer, Muhammad has written anti-government sentiments on social media as well as posts saying that he does not like white people. Fresno police are coordinating with the FBI, but it is unknown if this attack was terrorist-related.
Muhammad was already wanted in a separate slaying that occurred last Thursday.
NBC Bay Area reported that the weapon was a “revolver-style gun.” Witnesses told media that he paused to reload and was cursing as he shot at people in the parking lot.

One of the victims was driven to a nearby police station, but died shortly after.
“One of the victims was driven in a PG&E truck to the Fresno Police Department’s headquarters in downtown Fresno where he died,” KSEE24 reported.
Who Is Kori Ali Muhammad?
Kori Ali Muhammad, 39, is the gunman who killed three people in Fresno Tuesday and a security guard at a Motel 6 last Thursday. Muhammad is currently in police custody.
