So, it makes sense they'd take a "low-key approach" towards their own anniversary. We decided to take much more extravagant approach. Check out our list of the most important Google Doodles and their backstories (of which there are many) after the jump.

The Internet Stays Classy On Valentine’s Day [Photo]

I always assumed the internet masses would rather eat a bucket of KFC with Ron "Tater Salad" White than sip an 18 year-old scotch with Charles Bukowski, but this is ridiculous. As displayed in the screengrabs above and below, 9 of the 20 most Googled terms on Valentine's Night 2011 revolved around remarkably unromantic American chain restaurants. Sure, not everyone can have a free Taco Party like the winners of Conan O'Brien's VD Explosion, but if you really want your date to stay open for business, you might want to pony up a couple extra greenbacks for that fancy place down the street. You know the one with the chandeliers and silverware? Stay classy, interwebs and F*** YOU, Economy. See the full list of most Googled terms on Valentine's Night after the jump!
