“Groovy” Lando Vannata, in just his second UFC fight after losing to Tony Ferguson in July, earned his first UFC win this weekend at UFC 206, KO-ing John Makdessi with a spinning wheel kick. The 24-year-old college dropout won the UFC 206 preliminary fight just a minute and a half into Round 1. It’s easily, EASILY the knockout of the year.
Even more impressive, Vannata claims it was all part of his gameplan. Speaking to reporters after the fight, Vannata said, “I practiced that kick about 2,000 times in camp and I knew it was going to work. I was planning on using it and I knew he couldn’t stop it. I expected it to be successful. I’m ready for whoever they want to give me next.”
Dude’s only two fights into his career and he’s already planning spinning kicks into his strategy. Pretty impressive.
