McKayla Maroney became an instant sensation and worldwide motivator when she couldn’t hide her disgust at only winning silver at the 2012 Olympics in London The young gymnast instantly gained fame from her Smirk that Charmed the World – but she was a little too young for us to be dreaming of her gaining fame with plenty of hot shots from her Instagram account.
Well, we were pleasantly surprised. McKayla’s been working hard to maintain her fame ever since turning 18 years old. She’s still been pretty charming about it, too. There was a cute turn on the baseball fields with a legendary opening pitch, and she’s done some acting. We still can’t believe that she hasn’t been cast in an X-Men movie yet, though.
But now there’s controversy over McKayla, with some recent pics accusing her of having plastic surgery. Specifically, there’s talk of her having her lips done — and, at only 20 years old, she’s way too young for that. McKayla’s spoken up, insisting, “I literally haven’t done anything to my face!”
We will not argue with McKayla. We will, however, study her very carefully as part of some ongoing research into…well, just liking McKayla. We’ll also add that we don’t think it’s right for McKayla to also be getting some flack over supposedly trying to be the new Kylie or Kendall Jenner.
