Get ready for Tinder U. On Tuesday, Aug. 21, Tinder announced that it is launching a service only available to college students. Like the early days of Facebook, all users will be required to have a .edu email address and be geolocated on a college campus to sign up.
In the app, students will be able to display their school logo at the top of their profile photo while also having the school’s logo providing “flair” at the bottom.
The press release indicates that students will be able to find their desired crushes on the app.
Get ready for the best semester of your life. Tinder U is a new feature that makes it easier to connect with other students around you – putting their profiles first as you swipe. Need a study buddy? Not a problem. Coffee date on the quad? We’ve got you covered. Freshman year and you don’t know a soul? This is your ticket to the coolest crowd on campus. Let’s face it—it doesn’t get any classier than this.

Tinder already has a younger user base, with more than half of its users being between ages 18 and 24, so the transition to the collegiate scene was a natural move
According to the press release, “here’s how it works.”
- Once you’re on campus, log in to Tinder and give us your .edu email address
- Then check your email and tap the verification button
- Now you’re in Tinder U! Swipe, match, and message as usual—you know the curriculum—it’s Tinder 101
Tinder U will be unveiled in the coming days at four-year, accredited, not-for-profit universities across the country in the coming days.
