Nine people, including six children, were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a man went on a stabbing spree at an apartment complex in Boise, Idaho. The suspect behind the stabbing was identified by police as Timmy Kinner.
What happened?
According to ABC News, Boise Police Chief Bill Bones issued the following statement:
“This incident is not a representation of our community…Our community is reeling from this attack.”
After being alerted to the situation, Boise police were able to immediately locate and take the suspect into custody. Ultimately, the officers found the stabbing victims both in the apartment complex and its parking lot; the nine victims were later taken to the hospital.
On Twitter, the Boise Police Department issued the following statement:
“The suspect is in custody and being interviewed at this time.”
“Victim-witness coordinators and counselors are working with the victims and witnesses to provide them services in the days and weeks ahead.”
Who is Timmy Kinner?
Kinner is from Los Angeles and was living temporarily at the Wylie Street Station apartments in Boise. According to officials, he was asked to leave the building the Friday before the attack. While the apartment complex was used to house refugees, it is not believed at this time that he was a refugee himself.
At this time, officials have not identified Kinner as having any relationship with the nine victims. His motive and reasons for attacking the specific individuals also remains under investigation.
Kinner is currently being held on nine counts of aggravated battery and six counts of injury to a child, according to police. He was 30 at the time of the incident.
