Early Sunday morning, a shooter wearing nothing but a green jacket, with the suspect later identified as 29-year-old Travis Reinking, claimed the lives of four people before down, injuring four others, before another customer, identified as James Shaw Jr. knocked the rifle out of his hands. Police are now releasing the names of the victims.
Taurean C. Sanderlin
According to ABC 13, Taurean C. Sanderlin of Goodlettsville was one of the victims. Sanderlin was also killed outside the restaurant.
Joe R. Perez
According to ABC 13, Joe R. Perez of Nashville was one of the victims; Perez was identified as being 20-years-old at the time of the incident and was said to be a “restaurant patron.” Like Sanderlin, Perez was also killed outside the restaurant.
Akilah Dasilva
According to ABC 13, Akilah Dasilva of Nashville was another victim who lost their life in the shooting; Dasilva was identified as being 23-years-old at the time of the incident. Dasilva was shot inside the restaurant and was ultimately taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, later dying from injuries.
Deebony Groves
According to ABC 13, Deebony Groves was the sole casualty to have died inside the Waffle House; Groves was later identified as a 21-year-old woman from Gallatin, Tennessee.
What do we know about the injured?
Two people who were injured by the incident have been identified as 21-year-old Shanita Waggoner and 24-year-old Sharita Henderson, both of Nashville, according to ABC 13.
As we’ve previously reported, the man who managed to get the weapon away from the shooter was identified as 29-year-old James Shaw Jr., who had been grazed by a bullet, also requiring medical treatment; he has since been released from the hospital.
