Hurricane Maria 2017 Photos: Must-See Pictures Of Storm & Damage

Hurricane Maria left Puerto Rico in shambles and killed at least 15 on the small Caribbean island of Dominica. The storm has also killed two people on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. Maria has left the island of Puerto Rico without electricity and has battered the Dominican Republic with heavy rain and winds. The storm appears to be heading to the Turks and Caicos islands next.
Puerto Rico has an official death toll of 62 as a direct result of Hurricane Maria. According to a report from The New York Times, as many as 1,052 may have died from the hurricane.
Maria hit the island of Dominica hard as a Category 5 storm before turning to a Category 4 and striking Puerto Rico with winds as high as 155 mph. The storm dipped down to a Category 2 before rising up to a Category 3 hurricane.
On Thursday, Maria struck the Dominican Republic as a Category 3 storm. In the photo below, a restaurant owner is attempting to save a table, from his establishment, being washed out to sea.

Puerto Rico was completely devastated by Hurricane Maria. Nearly 3.5 million people have been left without electricity, and authorities say that it may take four to six months for power to be restored to the island. Puerto Rico’s Governor Ricardo Rossello says a “new Puerto Rico” will need to be built.
