Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has some straightforward advice for Angel Reese: it’s time to move on from ex-boyfriend Jalen Duren.
Cunningham made the comment on the latest episode of her Show Me Something podcast – and true to form, she didn’t mince words.
“Something had to have happened for her to want to embarrass [Duren] in some way.”
The remark came in response to Reese’s recent Instagram post trolling Duren after the Detroit Pistons dropped Game 4 of their first-round playoff series against the Orlando Magic – the same team where Reese’s current boyfriend, Wendell Carter Jr., plays. Duren, it turns out, had the last laugh. Detroit won the final three games of the series to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
When Cunningham’s co-host suggested that Duren may not have actually done anything to deserve the public jab, Cunningham’s response was brief.
“Valid. But then move on. Worry about the current boyfriend.”
This isn’t the first time the two have clashed.
A Running Rivalry
Cunningham was openly critical of Reese earlier in the 2025 WNBA season, after Reese made comments that were widely seen as throwing her Chicago Sky teammates under the bus during a rough stretch.
“That’s not great. And I get it. When you’re losing, and it has been a frustrating season, everyone is feeling those emotions. And when I say everyone, it’s not just her… literally everyone feels that. There’s just some things that you can’t say.”
Chicago eventually traded Reese to the Atlanta Dream over the offseason – a move that came after a turbulent year for both the player and the franchise.
Whether Reese fires back on her own podcast, Unapologetically Angel, is anyone’s guess. What’s clear is that there’s no warmth between these two – and their next on-court meeting, scheduled for June 4, should make for an interesting watch.
