On Saturday, September 14, the Ultimate Fighting Championship went north of the border for UFC on ESPN+ 16 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
In the main event, fan-favorite lightweight contenders Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Justin Gaethje went head to head. The two 155-pound stars have always brought non-stop action to the cage and fans in attendance at Rogers Arena on Saturday night were expecting nothing less.
Wasting no time, the two men immediately began exchanging punching with Gaethje looking to push the pace and Cerrone hoping to keep the range.
After landing a heavy counter right hand, Gaethje was able to drop Cerrone before unloading some heavy shots to his grounded opponent. Ultimately, the referee stepped in to save the day. Cerrone protested the stoppage, but it was a wrap as Gaethje recorded another first-round (T)KO victory.
