Fan-favorite Nate Diaz is returning to action this weekend on Saturday, August 17 in the co-main event of UFC 241 against former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis. It has been a three-year layoff from mixed martial arts for Diaz, who last competed at UFC 2020 which was a split-decision loss to former two-division champion Conor McGregor.
On Wednesday, August 14, Diaz participated in the open workouts which were open to the public and he did so in the most Diaz way possible.
During his workout, the Stockton, California native busted out a pre-rolled joint and sparked up on the stage.
Don’t worry, though. Diaz said after the open workout that it was a CBD joint from his own line from Game Up Nutrition. Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com added: “CBD is legal in- and out-of-competition in the UFC’s anti-doping policy. Diaz said he’ll have to save the THC for after the fight since it’s prohibited in-competition.”

This isn’t the first time that Diaz has smoked CBD during a public UFC president, either. Following his UFC 2020 loss to McGregor, the marijuana enthusiast showed up to the post-fight press conference with a CBD vape pen and toked away while he was answering questions from the media.

As for what UFC president Dana White thought about the entire stunt, he kept his response simple with a single emoji.
Up next for Nate Diaz is a meeting with Anthony Pettis in the co-main event of UFC 241 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. It marks Diaz’s first fight in three years after taking a hiatus following his second fight against former two-division champion Conor McGregor. UFC 241 is headlined by a heavyweight championship bout between current titleholder Daniel Cormier and former champ Stipe Miocic. The main card will air on pay-per-view with the preliminary bouts on ESPN+ and ESPN.
