Cardi B, Bernie Sanders Team Up for 2020 Campaign Video Aimed at Young Voters

Rapper Cardi B has not been shy about her thoughts on the current political landscape. She has even taken to social media to voice her support for Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders and now the unlikely duo is teaming up.

As it turns out, Cardi B sat down with the Vermont Senator to put together a new 2020 presidential campaign video.

The video targets young voters and is encouraging them to get out and vote by focusing on issues such as student debt, climate change, and minimum wage which are more popular among their demographic.

“We [are] working on a way to involve more young people in the political process,” Sanders said during an interview with CNN. “The future of America depends on young people. They are voting in large numbers, but not large enough numbers.”

Cardi B commented on the meeting and said that she directly asked Bernie questions that were previously submitted by her fans: “A couple of weeks ago I asked my followers if you had the opportunity to have a question answered by a democratic candidate what would it be? I got a lot of submissions and selected the most popular questions to get answered. Stay tuned to see how he will fight for economic, racial, and social justice for all. Together, let’s build a movement of young people to transform this country.Let’s LEARN OUR CANDIDATES!”

This is not the first time that Cardi B and Bernie have had conversations about politics either. During a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Bernie revealed that he and Cardi sometimes will talk on the phone.

“I know her,” Sanders said. “We have talked on the phone on several occasions. She is really smart and she is deeply concerned about what’s happening in this country. That’s the truth. She comes from a humble background and she knows what it’s like to live in poverty, to struggle, and she wants to make sure that we can improve life for working people in this country. I’m delighted that she is a supporter.”

The video has yet to drop, but we can expect to see it in the coming days.

As for Sanders, he has his next opportunity to pitch his platform to voters at the CNN Democratic Debates in Detroit on Tuesday, July 30 when he takes the stage alongside the likes of Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Beto O’Rourke, and more.
