The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns north of the border on Saturday, May 4 for UFC on ESPN+ 9 headlined by an exciting matchup between two top lightweight contenders. In the main event, Al Iaquinta goes head-to-head with fan favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
In the co-main event at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, middleweights Derek Brunson and Elias Theodorou square off.
The event airs exclusively on ESPN+.
Ahead of the night of fights, all fighters had to step onto the scale for the official fighter weigh-ins on Friday morning. Shortly after the weigh-ins were open, bother Cerrone and Iaquinta were able to successfully hit their marks to make Saturday’s fight a go.
UFC on ESPN+ 9 kicks off at 5:00 p.m. ET with a bantamweight matchup between Mitch Gagnon and Cole Smith. The featured preliminary bout is a battle between promising women’s bantamweight contenders Macy Chiasson and Sarah Moras. The main card officially begins at 8:00 p.m. ET with The Ultimate Fighter alum Andrew Sanchez taking on Marc-Andre Barriault.
