Update: Police have identified and arrested a suspect in connection to the shooting of Prezzano.
Tate Prezzano, a 22-year-old lacrosse player at the University of Georgia, has been identified as the victim of an armed robbery attempt that happened on the university campus around 7:15 a.m. on Monday, April 22.
According to officials with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, Prezzano and another unidentified student were robbed at gunpoint by an unidentified assailant while waiting at a bus stop in the 2100 block of South Milledge Avenue on the morning of Monday, April 22.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has since released a sketch of the suspect, who remains at large at the time of this writing.
Police have described the unnamed suspect as being a black male with “dreads or twists.”
Additionally, he was reportedly driving an “early 2000s model Ford Mustang” with a white paint job and a tan convertible roof, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Following the shooting, Prezzano was given first-aid and taken to a nearby local hospital to be treated for what was described as “life-threatening injuries.”
The most recent reports indicate that Prezzano is currently recovering in a “stable but critical” condition.

Furthermore, in addition to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the University of Georgia Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the shootings.
In an official statement, the University of Georgia stated that they were “deeply saddened” by the shooting.
“We are deeply saddened by these tragic and shocking events,” the emailed statement read. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to our two students who were involved — one of whom is hospitalized — as well as their families and friends.”
