Irene O’Shea, a 102-year-old woman from a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, made history and proved that she is the biggest daredevil of a grandma in the world. O’Shea made the leap out of a perfectly good airplane in South Australia to become the oldest person ever to skydive.
She takes the title that was previously held by the title from Kenneth Meyer of New Jersey, who made his jump last year. Irene also previously went on a skydiving adventure to celebrate her 100th birthday back in 2016. She also jumped in 2017 to become the world’s oldest female skydiver before overtaking Meyer for the historic mark.
Irene made the jump in hopes of raising money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), which claimed her daughter Shelagh’s life. Shelagh was 67 years old when she passed away ten years ago.
So far, she has raised $12,000 and hopes to raise even more as this jump raises awareness.
And Irene is such a badass that she may not be done making big moves anytime soon.
“Possibly I will jump next year and if I live long enough I’ll jump at 105,” she told the Herald Sun. “It was very clear up there and the weather was good but it was very cold up there.”
