Raegan Heitzig: Full Story of Colorado River Boat Crash Victim

Raegan Heitzig has been identified as one of the people who went missing after a deadly boat crash at Moabi Regional Park on Saturday, September 1. Heitzig is the only victim of the crash who remains missing.
On Tuesday, September 4, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office announced that they recovered the body of Heitzig’s friend, 24-year-old Kirra Drury, of Ventura.
Earlier in the day on September 4, police recovered the body of Brian Grabowski, of Tulare, who was also missing.
51-year-old Christine Lewis was also killed and another nine people were injured, with two in critical condition.
Sheriff Doug Schuster of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said that none of the 16 boaters involved in the crash were wearing life vests, which are not required by law.
According to reports, the two boats involved in the crash were traveling around 50 mph at the time of the collision.
In total, there were 16 people involved in the crash: three were killed, nine were seriously injured, and one remains missing.

All 16 passengers, 10 on one boat and six on the other, were either thrown or jumped into the rushing river, which was crowded with holiday weekend boaters. Each of the boats that crashed had a mix of family and friends from out of the area, some of whom were rescued by passing boaters.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said Monday that investigators had yet to determine what role speed might have played in the accident.
“We haven’t come up with anything on contributing factors yet,” she said. “Once (the missing) are located, then we can continue pursuing that information.”

A portion of the river near Lake Havasu remains closed as officials still search for Heitzig.
