UFC 227 ended on a high note, with both of the championship bouts at the top of the night’s fight card delivering in a big way. In the co-main event, Demetrious Johnson vs. Henry Cejudo 2 delivered what may go down as the best flyweight title fight in UFC history, going all five rounds in an incredible back-and-forth affair.
When the final bell rang, history was made as Cejudo used his strong wrestling credentials to earn a split-decision victory over the 11-time champion in Johnson. Cejudo became just the second flyweight titleholder in UFC history, while also becoming the first fighter in the promotion to ever claim a UFC championship after previously winning an Olympic gold medal; Cejudo won gold at the 2018 Olympics in Beijing.
