Lesli Kelly, 49, was shot dead in the parking lot of Penn State Beaver College on Wednesday afternoon. Her ex-husband William Kelly is suspected of shooting Leslie and then himself in an apparent murder-suicide.
Ms. Kelly was employed as a food service worker on campus at Penn State Beaver College. She was reportedly shot dead in the parking lot outside the Student Union building. Her husband, William, allegedly lured her to her death under the pretenses of providing Christmas presents for their three children.
Instead of handing over X-Mas present, William reportedly pulled out two .45 caliber handguns and let out 8-15 shots. William is accused of shooting and killing his wife before turning the gun on himself. The case is being investigated as a murder-suicide. The shooting reportedly occurred at 3:40 P.M in the parking lot outside the Student Union building in the Brodhead Bistro area.
Kelly’s fiance, John Ward, said he witnessed the fatal shooting firsthand. He said, “I will never forgive the man that murdered her right in front of my eyes.”
“Please know that the threat has ended and that your safety and security remain our number one priority. Our campus police are vigilant; please avoid the student union building and food services area until further notice,” Penn State Beaver Chancellor Jenifer S. Cushman wrote on the school’s Facebook page.
The shooting occurred in parking lot G between the police and food service buildings around 4 p.m. today.
"I don't think Penn State has experienced anything like this at any of our campuses," said Jenifer Cushman, @PennStateBeaver chancellor. "It's a tragedy."
