Celisa Henning, a 41-year-old mother of two, was found dead in her home with her young twin daughters in what authorities are now calling a double murder-suicide.
Henning, 41, and her six-year-old twins Makalya and Addison were found dead on Monda, August 28, inside of the Henning’s home in the 400 block of North Reed in Joliet, Illinois.
According to police, Henning was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, with her daughters suffering from similar mortal wounds. Steve Henning, Celisa’s husband and the twins’ father, discovered their bodies around 3:30 PM Monday afternoon.

The official cause and manner of the death will be determined after the investigation into the deaths is completed, the coroner’s office said. Joliet police Monday said they were investigating the deaths as an “apparent murder-suicide.”
Members of the Joliet community on Tuesday were mourning the deaths of the mother and her daughters, whose bodies were found at their home.
The twin girls had just started kindergarten at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School in Joliet. Counseling services were made available to students and staff at the school Tuesday and will continue to be available as needed, a spokesman for the Diocese of Joliet said.
Brian Benton, the Joliet Police Chief, said that there were no previous indications that led anyone to be concerned about the safey of Celisa, Makalya and Addison.
“There were no previous indicators that there was cause for concern from our end. I’m not sure what prompted this, but again, it’s a terrible tragedy and we are very sensitive to the concerns of the family,” Benton said.”
However, Steve Henning’s father, Dennis, said described his daughter-in-law as “disturbed” and a “troubled girl”.
