WWE US Champion AJ Styles has something to say

AJ Styles comes out to a huge pop. He’s looking for a challenger and wants to defends his championship tonight. Out comes Kevin Owens. KO demands a rematch for the US title. AJ says he already beat him and KO doesn’t deserve it.

SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon is out next. He agrees with Styles, but grants Owens the match anyway. Tonight, Kevin Owens will face AJ Styles for the WWE United States Championship. Plus, KO will need to look for a referee. If KO loses, he won’t be able to compete for the US Championship for as long as AJ is champion.

Kevin Owens is looking for a referee

Kevin Owens approaches his former friend/enemy Sami Zayn. KO says that Zayn is the only guy he can trust, and he doesn’t even know why they should be fighting. Plus, Zayn hasn’t been doing anything since coming to SmackDown, so he might as well involve himself in something important.

Aiden English vs. Bobby Roode

Aiden English starts off this segment with his usual song. And then…former NXT Champion Bobby Roode’s music hits! Roode is about to make his SmackDown Live debit.

Roode dominates the match on the early going. He has English reeling as we go to to commercial break. Roode continues the punishment, but “The Drama King” Aiden English turns the tide and takes control of the contest.

Aiden English gets too cocky and Bobby Roode picks up momentum. Roode is laying into English with hard shots. English counters with a Director’s Cut and goes for the pin. 1…2….kick out!

English continues the offense, but Roode counters. He jumps off the top rope, hitting English with a flying neck-breaker. Roode follows up with a spine-buster, and then seals the deal with a Glorious DDT.

Sami Zayn made his decision

Kevin Owens approaches Sami Zayn once more. KO has a referee zebra-striped shirt in hand. Zayn said he thought about all the nasty things Owens did to him in the past…and you know what? Owens can find another referee to help him tonight. “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin steps up. He wants to be the special guest referee tonight for the United States title match.

The Hype Bros vs. The Usos

Mojo Rawley dominates the match early on against The Usos. Rawley is running corner to corner with hard clotheslines, but after a quick distraction, Mojo is laid on his ass. The Usos enforce their dominance on Rawley.

Rawley fights back and knocks down The Usos, but he’s hurt. Mojo inches his way towards Zach Ryder and makes the tag. Ryder kicks ass immediately. The crowd is looking Ryder. A Broski Boot was avoided, but Rawley comes back with some punishment. Mojo hits hard with a shoulder tackle. But he is taken out with a superkick, but Ryder regains control, bringing the action back to the ring. Ryder hits a knee to Jimmy Usos’ face. Jey jumps up on the rope to distract Ryder. And that’s all Jimmy needs to put away Ryder for the win. Just give an Uso an opportunity, and they’ll capitalize big time.

Two-on-one handicap match: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. The Singh Brothers

The Singh Brothers try their best in battling Shinuke Nakamura. Shinsuke kicked serious ass, but the Singh Brothers were able to capitalize on a distraction and take down Nakamura.

Nakamura ends the match with a submission.

Post-Match: WWE Champion Jinder Mahal attacks Shinsuke Nakamura from behind following the match. Nakamura turns the tide when Mahal slips up, hitting the champion in the Kinshasa Kick.

Naomi & Becky Lynch vs. Natalya & Carmella

Naomi squares off against Carmella to start the match. Carmella avoids the champion and tag in Natalya. Noami and Nattie lock up as we go to commercial break.

We’re back from the break, and Becky hits Nattie with a leg drop. “The Queen of Black Hearts” Natalya tries to call for a break, but is trying to fool Becky. Nattie assaults Becky and stomps her into the corner. Becky tries to make a tag, but eats a discus clothesline instead.

Natalya takes out Naomi, dropping her on the apron. Nattie then returns to seeking punishment on Becky Lynch. She then goes for a tag, but Carmella jumps off the apron and mocks the now-disadvantaged champion. Becky capitalizes off of this opportunity.

Naomi and Becky punish Natalya. Carmella even returns to threaten to cash in her Money In The Bank contract. Nattie tags in Carmella, but she wants nothing to do with this match. Nattie drags her in by the leg, and Becky takes out “The Princess of Staten Island” Carmella with a Becksploder suplex. Naomi seals the deal, hitting Carmella with a split-legged moonsalt for the win.

Kevin Owens controls the match in its early goings. KO stopped the sh*t out of AJ Styles. But Styles fights back and takes Owens out of the ring. AJ is kicking ass once again.

Owens is in control as we return from the commercial break. KO has Styles grounded in a head-lock. But AJ fights out, hitting KO in the gut. KO regains control, but Styles counters with a huge face-buster. Both men are down. KO and Styles return to their feet. Owens’ punches are blocked by Styles. KO tries to fight back, but Styles kicks ass with a flying forearm and an inverted back-breaker for the pin. 1…2…kick out!

Styles takes control with a Calf Crusher, but Corbin breaks up the submission for no good reason. Styles and Corbin argue. KO pushes Styles into Corbin who pushes back. Owens rolls up Styles. Corbin fast counts. Styles kicks out at 2. KO rolls up Styles again, and Corbin does another fast count. Styles once again kicks out.

SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon runs down to ringside to argue with Baron Corbin. Meanwhile, KO capitalizes on the distraction and hits Styles with a low blow. Owens goes for the pin. 1…2…..

Shane McMahon pulls Baron Corbin out of the ring. They argue for a bit and Corbin quits, handing the referee shirt over to Shane. Styles recovers in the ring and puts away a frustrated Kevin Owens with a Phenomenal Forearm.
