WWE SmackDown is live from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. Tonight, we get to see the second-ever women’s Money In The Bank ladder match. Plus, Naomi defends her championship against “The Ravishing Russian” Lana.
SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan starts off tonight’s show. Let’s get to the YES Man right away….
WWE SmackDown Viewing Details
Carmella and James Ellsworth Got Beef with Daniel Bryan
SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan opens up tonight’s show. And before you know it, Carmella and Ellsworth are down to the ring to complain. Carmella reminds Bryan that Money In The Bank ladder matches allow outside interference, and no one stripped Sheamus or Seth Rollins of their respective briefcases. Ellsworth gets up in Bryan’s grill. James says that Bryan couldn’t hack it in the ring anymore, so he made up some bogus injury and retired.
Bryan asks the crowd if they want to see the second-ever women’s MITB ladder match. The crowd responds with a resounding “YES!”
By the way, Ellsworth isn’t just banned from ringside, he’s banned from the building. Security comes out and drags out James.
The Hype Bros vs. The Usos
The Hype Bros are solidly in control. Mojo seems invincible to the tag champ’s chops. Ryder performs a successful suicide dive. But his success doesn’t last long as he’s taken out with a big Uso kick.
Zack Ryder is dominated during much of the commercial break. But when Mojo gets the tag, he comes in like a hot bolt of lightning. Mojo is on fire, kicking ass all over the place. He’s about to perform a double-team move with a rejuvenated Ryder, but gets kicked in the head. Ryder nails a missile dropkick. But The Usos take control and hit a splash for the win.
The Usos defeat The Hype Bros
Post-Match: The New Day come down to the ring and challenge The Usos to a title match at the Battleground pay-per-view. The Usos accept. They’ll take out ya boys because it’s no longer about The New Day-ish, it’s about Day One-ish. Xavier thinks The Usos got bars, but The New Day consistently spits fire. Kofi schools The Usos because his squad are “underdogs like Rudy, while The Usos are under-draws like booty!”
The Fashion Police are interrogating The Ascension. Fandango attempts the suspects with Eddie Money tickets if they confess, but they won’t crack. Viktor was about to grab those tickets, but Konnor reminded him that they’re only into trash metal grindcore. Tyler Breeze tempts the team with a cheese platter. But he also wants to know why they attacked him. The Ascension claim innocence, they just wanted a match on the Money In The Bank card.
There is noise in the other room. The Fashion Po Po check it out and see that their office is trashed. Meanwhile, The Ascension grab hold of those Eddie Money tickets.
WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship: Naomi (c) vs. Lana
Lana attacks the champion from behind before the match started. The bell rings and Lana hits Naomi with her finisher. The champ quickly turns the tide with one swift kick. Noami executes a split-legged moonsault from the top rope, and that’s it!
Noami defeats Lana to retain her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Post-Match: Naomi celebrates on the entrance ramp, while Lana has a temper tantrum in the ring.
John Cena returns next week!
Aiden English’s song is interrupted by The Viper
Aiden English starts off this segment underneath a spotlight. He calls himself the “Shakespeare of song.” Randy Orton’s music hits. Out comes The Viper. SmackDown color commentator John “Bradshaw” Layfield says that Aiden “better run.”
During the commercial break, Randy gives this singer an RKO.
Orton sits in the ring, saying he won’t leave until he gets what he wants. Randy gets up and starts talking trash about Jinder Mahal. He shows the audience a clip of The Viper kicking ass last week, giving out RKOs like it’s hotcakes. Randy wants a rematch for the WWE title. Why? If Randy doesn’t get what he wants, he’ll hound down Jinder everywhere he goes just to kick his ass.
Randy is about go backstage to find Jinder Mahal and kick his ass, but Shane McMahon’s music hits instead. The crowd chants for “Shane O’Mac.” Shane says “what’s up” to San Diego. Shane sympathies with Randy, whose dad was attacked by The Singh Brothers at the Money In the Bank pay-per-view. Since Shane knows how it’s like to see a family member get assaulted, he gives Orton the match. But the champion will name the stipulation of the match.
Randy Orton will face Jinder Mahal at Battleground in a Punjabi Prison match for the WWE World Championship.
Daniel Bryan’s announcement for next week
Kevin Owens and AJ Styles are in General Manager Daniel Bryan’s office. Styles wants a title show, but KO said he already beat him. Bryan announces an Independence Day battle royal for next week’s 4th of July show. The winner will face Owens at Battleground for the WWE United States Championship.
Maria and Mike Kanellis’ Love is interrupted by Sami Zayn
We haven’t seen Mike or Maria Kanellis since the Money In The Bank pay-per-view. “The Underdog of the Underground” Sami Zayn interrupts their insufferable mush-fest.
Sami Zayn vs. Baron Corbin
Corbin dominates most of this match. Ever time Sami mounts a comeback, he gets caught and annihilated by “The Lone Wolf.” After Sami hits a flurry of offense, Corbin retreats outside the ring to catch his breath. Sami dives out and attempts to take down Corbin. But Baron catches Sami and sends him face first into the barricade.
Corbin is seriously kicking ass. He’s making up for losing three straight matches against Zayn. Sami turns the tide and charges, but gets caught with an End of Days.

Women’s Money In The Bank ladder match: Carmella vs. Charlotte vs. Natalya vs. Becky Lynch vs. Tamina Snuka
While the ladies brawl, the “Princess of Staten Island” Carmella tries to capitalize by scaling the ladder and grabbing the briefcase. But her plans are destroyed and she’s knocked out of the ring by all her opponents. Becky Lynch sends Charlotte and Natalya sailing with Becksploder suplexes. Tamina gets paybeck on Lynch for kicking her out of the ring earlier in the match. She nails Becky with a Samoan Drop and then nearly destroys her with a Superfly Splash. All the ladies are laid out as we go to the commercial.
Charlotte and Natalya are the first to their feet. Natalya sends “The Queen” Charlotte sailing with a suplex. Carmella and Tamina brawl outside the ring. Tamina catches a kick, but also grabs the princess’ leg and flips her off the announcer’s desk.
After a long-fought match, including Carmella smacks Becky Lynch with a steel chair and then ascends the ladder and grab the briefcase.
Carmella is once again the new Ms. Money In The Bank
