UFC Fight Night 110 is upon us and MMA fans win definitely like the firepower possessed by various fighters on the card. Fighters like Alexander Volkanovski and Luis Henrique da Silva Lewis have the ability to end their respective fights very quickly and should help make for a very entertaining main card. However, the main attraction for this event is Mark Hunt vs. Derrick Lewis in what promises to be an absolute slugfest as both fighters are elite knockout artists
Former interim title contender Mark Hunt is coming off of a brutal knockout loss to Alistair Overeem at UFC 209. The 43-year-old heavyweight currently has a record of 12 wins and 11 losses with one draw. However, do not let the record fool you. Hunt is potentially the most dangerous opponent in the UFC due to the immense power he carries with his fists. Hunt has the ability to knock anybody out at anytime and can easily send opponents to the emergency room if he is underestimated.
On an interesting side note, Hunt continues to fight in the UFC despite his pending lawsuit against the organization stemming back to his July 9 fight with Brock Lesnar last year. Hunt originally lost in a decision to Lesnar who was making his comeback to UFC after several years off. However, after the fight concluded, Lesnar tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and had his win against Hunt revoked. The fight was, instead, ruled a “No Contest” by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Hunt was furious that he was not given a victory and was even more enraged by the amount of money he received for the fight compared to his opponent Brock Lesnar. Hunt is currently suing the UFC for an increase in his purse obtained in his fight against Lesnar but has continued to fight for Dana White and the organization anyway.
Hunt’s next opponent is knockout specialist Derrick Lewis who boasts a UFC record of 18-4. Of Lewis’ 18 wins, 16 of them have come via knockout. Lewis is in tremendous form and has won his last six fights. With a nickname like “The Black Beast,” one can understand why Lewis is considered a very intimidating fighter in the UFC today and why he can be a potential title contender in the immediate future.
Although this fight is scheduled for five rounds, this fight should end pretty quickly. These two fighters will keep throwing vicious punches until one of them will get caught and hit the floor. I think this fight will not even get out of the first round but it should still make for a phenomenally entertaining fight.
